The International 2026 marks the 15th anniversary of Dota 2’s most prestigious championship, bringing together the world’s elite teams for an unforgettable battle for the Aegis of Champions. Taking place August 20-23 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, this tournament represents the culmination of months of preparation and competition for the game’s most dedicated players.

Teams from around the globe train with unwavering focus, combining talent, determination, and sacrifice to reach the highest levels of competitive play. Tournament Format and Path to Shanghai

Sixteen teams will compete for the Aegis, comprised of directly invited squads and teams that qualify through the Open and Regional Qualifier stages. The qualification process begins with the Open Qualifiers running June 9-12, followed by Regional Qualifiers from June 15-28.

Once teams arrive in Shanghai, they’ll navigate a Swiss-style Group Stage (August 13-16) where they must secure one of eight spots to advance to the main event. This format ensures competitive integrity while giving all participants meaningful matches throughout the tournament.
