The International 2026 Heads to Shanghai for Historic 15th Anniversary Tournament

Every year, the world’s most dedicated Dota 2 players converge with a singular mission: to overcome elite opposition and claim victory as the last team standing. These competitors must fuse talent, determination, and sacrifice into a unified force, understanding that each obstacle strengthens their resolve while every misstep threatens to unravel their championship dreams.

This year’s competitive season will culminate in China, as Dota 2 celebrates The International’s 15th anniversary. The prestigious tournament will take place August 20-23 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, bringing together the planet’s strongest Dota teams to battle for the legendary Aegis of Champions.

Sixteen elite rosters will compete for the trophy through a combination of direct invitations and qualification routes. Teams can secure spots via the Open Qualifiers scheduled for June 9-12 or the Regional Qualifiers running June 15-28. Once teams arrive in Shanghai, they’ll navigate a Swiss-style group stage from August 13-16 to earn one of eight berths in the main event bracket.

Fans interested in attending the championship can expect ticketing information to be announced as the tournament date approaches. In the meantime, professional Dota action continues to heat up across all regions, with teams pushing themselves to the limit in hopes of earning their spot on esports’ grandest stage.
